What is creation?
in the age of AI - the way we define creation might have to change. is prompting and generating a short story equivalent to creating something?
I have barely used LLMs for creative work, i thought i'd give it a shot yesterday. after a few prompts i actually had a pretty decent short story. if i were to publish that short story would that be counted as mine? the genesis of the idea came from me didn't it? i had to direct the LLM (the tool) to simply bring my idea into life.
i was thinking how much different is it from using any other tool to create something? like if i desgined a toy and 3-d printed it, did I create it? would a purist tell me i have to sculpt it to call it mine?
Similarly, when it comes to vibecoding i have spent several hours and sometimes even days prompting and giving direction to bring my vision to life.
i'm not saying typing in a prompt and creating slop counts as creation but there is probably a threshold that once you cross it counts as 'your' creation.
